Shoe -string-budget-holiday- with my boys: )

Ok so this cannot actually be categorized under a write up, but then the fact that managing kids during vacations seems like OMG !!! kind of a feel...I decided to share my vacation diary. Realized its not that a tough task too.
Being a mom with boys aged 6 and 3.5, and a spouse who did not have a choice but work through even weekends, I make sure they get a good and a well balanced environment to grow up..not as intelligent men but as well balanced men..and I believe intelligence shall follow.

Ok so this year..fabulously my spouse announced that his weekends are going to be eaten up at work. I had this pretty long break from 23rd Dec'2015 to 4th Jan'2016. The day his school closed for vacations on 23rd, my first born came and asked...So amma what next ??!!!...........and hence starts my vacation diary..

Day 1 ( 23rd December ) : Half a day spent at school, gift shopping after school, birthday party in the evening....day well spent...lots of friends and frolicking...boys exhausted and hit the bed.
Day 2 ( 24th December) : A close friend who was travelling out of town , generously gave her play gym hours to me as it would expire by year end.Hence the boys and me took a jolly ride there and spent three hours gallivanting. I managed a date with my book, while the boys let out their monkey instincts. Evening my 1st born's friend came home and the kids had a blast.
Day 3 ( 25th December): Fortunately hubby had a day off and we took a joy ride and visited relatives along with the boys grandparents. Evening again I had their friends home and they turned the house upside down , unraveling their part of fun.
Day 4 ( 26th December) : Thiruvadirai poojai and then great grandparent visits, Boys and me packed our bags and took a local train ride to my parent's place to Nanganallur.Evening we again took the local train to T nagar for another bday bash and back to Nanganallur. Boys loved the train trips.
Day 5 (27th December ): Local walks and park visits that was followed by a tiring but awesome train ride to Lighthouse and then a long walk along the Marina upto Triplicane. We visited the Parthasarathy Temple and took a train back. It was unbelievable that the boys walked that long. But they ate well and slept like logs.
Day 6 ( 28th December): Quiet day well spent at three different parks and lots of relatives. Long walks to temples.
Day 7 ( 29th December) : Local flea market visits
Day 8 ( 30th December): Sudden plan to visit the planetarium. With my dad's encouragement and company, I drove the boys down to Birla Science Center. They saw some awesome 3D movies and a few real armodels of steam engines, missiles, rocket launchers etc. Well maintained children's park is another attraction there. We got back home for lunch and had a great book reading session too.Evening we visited a few relatives again.
Day 9 ( 31st December) : The boys helped a lot with household stuff..and by practice I have realized that if you involve them in anything, they feel important and don't mess around. We took a quiet local train back to Adyar and unpacked.Evening boys had a play date with their besties and I had a chat on common interests with their mommy. Day well spent.
Day 10 ( 1st January): New Year's Day. Hubby packed off to work and I took the boys out . They had company at home and spent the entire day playing and coloring.Quiet day and a good beginning to a great year.
Purpose of writing this diary entry is to add an affitmation that our life is what we make out of it and everyday can be filled with surprises and it comes almost free of cost.I am grateful that the boys applauded me by saying that it was a great vacation. Have realized it by practice sometimes getting up and pulling loose ends and also letting fo of lot of things helps tremendously. I would have shelled out a couple of hundred bucks the entire 10 days to survive and have our share of fun with bliss. Most of our best moments are priceless.
Have a great year guys !!!
Cheers
